Viterbo University is seeking a Director of the Todd Wehr Memorial Library.
Viterbo is a Franciscan, Catholic, liberal arts institution with a Learner Centered Philosophy and an undergraduate enrollment of 1500 located in southwest Wisconsin in the scenic upper Mississippi River Valley. According to US News and World Report (2009), Viterbo is located in one of the top ten best places to live in the United States--La Crosse, WI.
Description:
The Todd Wehr Memorial Library of Viterbo University is evolving into an academic center for the 21st Century. The Director provides strategic leadership for all functions of the library in collaboration with other academic units as the primary advocate for the library. The Director articulates and implements a vision for the academic library and provides leadership in the Library's support of the educational, research, and service missions of the University. She or he is responsible for all areas of library administration and operations, including strategic and policy planning, fiscal management, library services and collections, and supervision of personnel, facilities, and equipment.
Qualifications:
Viterbo University seeks a visionary leader who understands the learning styles of current students and the trends in higher education, academic libraries, and information technology. The Director demonstrates an ability to generate excitement for an emerging vision for the library. The Director initiates innovative ideas while working with the entire University community. The Director energizes, persuades, and collaborates.
The successful candidate shows:
* Evidence of progressively responsible administrative experience within an academic library environment.
* Practical knowledge and experience in the role and impact of current and emerging technologies in an academic library environment
* Ability to foster an open, creative, and collaborative environment in the library and to work productively with faculty and university administration.
* Commitment to a student-centered service philosophy.
