The
J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte is seeking an Instruction Librarian to teach bibliographic,
learning, and writing courses to UNC Charlotte undergraduates. The
successful candidate will also serve as Atkins Library’s primary
outreach contact to University College and Honors College, as well as an outreach contact to the English Department’s Rhetoric and Writing Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach bibliographic, learning, and writing courses to UNC Charlotte undergraduates
- Develop appropriate instructional aids (methodologies, assessments, handouts, web pages, tutorials, Web 2.0 offerings, etc.)
- Serve
as Atkins Library’s primary outreach contact to University College and
Honors College, as well as an outreach contact to the English
Department’s Rhetoric and Writing Program
- Assess Atkins Library resources for proposed or revised courses and/or degree programs related to University College, Honors College, and the English Department’s Rhetoric and Writing Program
- Assess Atkins Library resources for departmental accreditation and self-study reports related to University College, Honors College, and the English Department’s Rhetoric and Writing Program
- Advance initiatives by Information Commons, Atkins Library and UNC Charlotte
- Communicate effectively with people within and beyond Atkins Library and UNC Charlotte
- Participate in relevant professional activities, including Atkins Library and UNC Charlotte faculty governance
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Library Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association required
- Undergraduate degree required
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience providing bibliographic, learning, and writing courses to undergraduates preferred
- Experience providing library reference services preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, ATTRIBUTES:
- Knowledge of needs of undergraduates and faculty in a public Doctoral Intensive university
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, creating an environment of mutual respect
- Knowledge of technological applications with which to improve library services
- Knowledge of professional issues in library services
- Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing organizational and technological environment
- Ability
to meet core competencies in instruction librarianship and reference
service, including use and provision of electronic and Web 2.0 resources
POSITION INFORMATION:
- Full-time
