THE COLLEGE
Lane Community College, a comprehensive community college in beautiful Eugene, Oregon, has begun the search for their next Division Dean of Academic Technology.
The college offers a wide variety of instructional programs including transfer credit programs, professional technical degree and certificate programs, continuing education noncredit courses, programs in English as a Second Language and International ESL, GED programs, and customized training for local businesses. Lane has experienced more than a 25% enrollment increase in the past two years. Lane serves a 4,600 square mile area from the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific Ocean (this is an area larger than the states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined).
Lane's main campus is in Eugene, a city known for its quality of life and for being the home of the University of Oregon. Eugene (population 148,000) and neighboring Springfield (population 56,000) comprise the second largest population center in the state. Eugene and Springfield are nestled in the Willamette Valley between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains, and some peaks in the Cascade Range can be seen from main campus. The area's scenic mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, and coastline offer many opportunities for outdoor adventures or for just sitting back and enjoying the view.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Specific areas of responsibility for supervision and resources include The Academic Technology Center, computing labs, classroom technology design and support, instructional design and support services, library and information resources, media services, assistance in IT related grant development, support for the College's online learning initiatives, IT service center (helpdesk) and other areas as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Working with faculty and academic deans, the Dean of Academic Technology will develop and implement the vision for online learning and teaching as well as other appropriate learning technologies.
LEADERSHIP
*In collaboration with the college community, provide strategic leadership to develop and implement a college-wide vision and standards for technology enhanced learning.
* Foster community relationships, collaborate and build partnerships with faculty, students and management to effectively support the integration of technology into teaching and learning initiatives.
* Engage in college-wide administration including the review and development of the College's mission, goals, and budgets; collaborate on maintenance and evolution of administrative software (Banner); ensure appropriate participation and implementation.
* Support the College's academic mission and provide strategic direction in planning and execution of technology support needs. (http://www.lanecc.edu/research/planning/visionmissioncore0408.html)
* Provide strategic and tactical leadership for projects, development of additional resources, staying current with and anticipating changes in, state of the art technologies and their applications.
* Maintain compliance with established College policies and external regulations.
* Provide the overall leadership and management for units and resources listed above in Areas of Responsibility.
*Develop systems, policies and practices to ensure an outstanding customer service experience for students, faculty, and staff utilizing the IT services.
*Promote excellence in Division personnel through recruitment, selection, evaluation, as well as acknowledgement and promotion of professional development.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
Master's Degree in a technology related discipline or a Master's degree in an Arts and Letters discipline with significant work experience in technology, from a regionally accredited institution.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
No less than five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience in Information Technology with at least two (2) of these years in higher education.
