The Carpenter Library of Wake Forest University School of Medicine seeks applicants for the position of Reference Librarian reporting directly to the Head of Reference. This position will serve as liaison to the Graduate School and researchers, including the Research Park. The successful applicant will be required to assist with the library's education program, be familiar with health sciences resources, and be willing to explore new technologies.

Position Summary
Work involves all aspects of reference services both in-person and virtually, including answering questions, providing computer assistants, selecting library materials and helping guide the development of the library's collections and technology, participating in the library's education programs, and serving on committees promoting initiatives of the university's libraries.

Carpenter Library
Full-time regular, 40 hours/week
Evening and some weekend hours may be required.

Essential Functions
Teach faculty, staff, and students about a range of library resources.
Serve as liaison to the Graduate School and graduate students, Medical Center researchers, and the Research Park.
Serve as liaison with other university libraries on committees addressing scholarly communication and publication issues.
Works with staff to develop strategies, techniques, and best practices for using emerging technologies to support teaching and learning.
Assist researchers with compliance to the NIH Public Access Policy.
Provide reference desk coverage.
Assist users with research and information management tools, as well as provide help in answering inquiries and locating information.
Assist in marketing the library through contributions to newsletters, the library blog, and meetings with various research departments.
Assist in maintenance of the print and electronic reserve/reference collection.
Assist the Technology Team to increase the Library's virtual presence.

Qualifications:
ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library Science.
Medline searching experience preferred.
Library experience in a hospital or medical school preferred. Experience in other post-secondary institution will be considered.
Proven knowledge of online information resources and basic computer applications, as well as proven teaching experience.
Familiarity with wireless computing, mobile technology, social networking, and other new technologies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team and strong customer service skills.
