Does anyone know of an authoritative/accurate cost of living calculator that is available online? Obviously there are different ones available online, but I am curious which ones people have found to be worth using...

The one my partner and I have been using as we plan to relocate comes from Sperling's: http://www.bestplaces.net/col/. The information there seems to be updated frequently (current info is from October 2007.

I too use BestPlaces. I'm not sure if it is the best out there, but I've found the site to be really useful.

I think Best Places is a good one, too. You might also try the calculator at Money Magazine's site: http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/costofliving/costofliving.html . Another good resource (though not a calculator) is http://www.city-data.com. Josh

Great! I just went to the site and tried it out! Thanks for the suggestions! I have used City Data before and do agree it's a great site. I love some of the pictures on the website, especially of the smaller towns and more out of the way places!
