I wanted to share these sites that I came across. Epodunk seems to be broader in scope than some others, and besides you gotta love the name! http://www.epodunk.com/

And I saw an article that reminded me I'd seen this and thought it valuable. The Census Bureau has state data centers that are really good resources, http://www.census.gov/sdc/www/ Weird, but it really does end in "www"

And finally a news article that my new state, Nevada, continues to attract new residents in spite of drops in annual job growth- from 6% in 2006 to ONE percent by late 2007 and a 1.2% jump in unemployment. (from the Las Vegas Review Journal) One caveat about unemployment numbers: the numbers cooks in the administration have fluid and creative ways of defining and counting unemployed people.....

What is it like where you are looking for a position?

Just an added note: Epodunk is a great site for general information. I have used it before and have either eliminated places based on information or decided to apply for a position because of it.

This site gives you facts that you can compare to the description provided by either the people advertising or by the local chamber. "lovely recreational area served by a library with high circulation" may actually mean "town of 2300, 4 hours from nearest bookstore." It is great resource for reference, too!
