I had a very good phone interview with a company a few weeks back.... the HR person told me they were sending my resume with the info from the phone interview to the hiring officer and either that person would contact me or I would have a phone interview with his peers....
A few days past so I called the HR person to follow up ...... she said she was happy to hear back from me and that it was nice to see I was following up on the job and that the hiring officer was out of the office for a few days and that she would reach out to him and get back to me....... a few days past so I sent her an email..... didnt get a response.... 4 days later I called her to follow up.....left the HR person a voice message and have not heard back since.... its been 5 days....
I really want this job and am very qualified.... should I contact them or wait?

Yikes, slow down! You need to stop contacting these folks. You risk becoming a pest. I know you really want the job, but there's little to nothing to be gained by repeated contacts at this point, especially if you are just calling to follow up. These things can take time. You need to try to relax (it's difficult, I know!) and wait. Good luck.

Agreed, the ball is in their court at this point. More phone calls are not going to help speed things up, as Joan said, they are more likely just to annoy the people there.

HR in some organizations works slow. There is a fine line between showing interest and being over aggressive. Once you expressed your interest in your follow up contact, I would slow down my contact attempts. 4-5 days is little time to wait between contacts. If I need to go to my boss or my boss's boss to get approval, 4-5 days would probably not even be enough time.
