Hi all! I find this forum to be so helpful; I've been keeping up with it for about a year now (I'll be done with my MLIS in another year), and I'm looking around at all kinds of libraries and non-library information jobs. I found one offered by the CIA, called an "Information Review and Release Analyst." It's not currently up on their site anymore, so I pasted some of the job description below--what I'm really interested in, is hearing from someone who is an IRR, or who knows what this job is like on a day-to-day basis. I work best under fast-paced, challenging environments that have some variety when it comes to analytic tasks. From the job description given, it was difficult for me to tell if this job fit that description, or if this would generally be a desk assignment that processed the same kinds of information every day. Thanks for any of your insights!

CIA is seeking highly motivated individuals (developmental through full performance) who want to be part of the CIA information review and release and information sharing programs supporting the needs of the world's premier intelligence organization and its partners. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing information sharing guidelines and the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act, the Privacy Act, related laws and Executive Orders.

Participants in these programs:
Analyze sensitivities and help protect equities in CIA and Intelligence Community products
Work with experts throughout the CIA and Intelligence Community to determine what information can be shared
Facilitate the sharing of information with the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of the U.S. Government, intelligence partners, the media, and the general public.
Minimum requirements include a degree in Library Science (MLS/MIS), Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Business. Candidates with Liberal Arts degrees (Political Science, History, etc.) may also apply. Candidates should also possess:
Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective communication with others at all levels
Strong customer service skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Strong presentation skills
Strong teamwork skills
A good understanding of Information Management (laws, regulations, practices, etc.) and information systems is highly desired.
