Hi Everyone, I'm an undergraduate English major that is planned to get a Masters degree in Library Science. My question is which would be the best choice to accompany a Masters in order to become a youth librarian, a specialization in Youth Librarianship or a Dual Master's degree in Children's Literature. I am interesting in ultimately working as the director of the children's department of a public library.

You don't say whether you are interested in working in academic or public libraries. If you are committed to university level libraries, you might want to consider the dual degree in order to have a second master's. For public, I don't think the second master's would be as marketable. I doubt you would be hired because of the degree--even though the library might love having that knowledge on tap.
Maybe a bit more information would help garner more tips. Personally, I can say I have never regretted the second master's even though I don't actively "use" it in my job.

I don't know how useful the master's degree is when you are applying for public library jobs, but I do know a second master's can add considerable time and expense. I would hold off on the second degree right now. Frankly, a second degree in business might be as useful as a second degree in children's literature.

If you are going to give your MLS a specialized focus of any kind, please be aware that unless you live in a major metro center, you will need to be willing to move to find a job in your specialty.
If you are not geographically mobile, you might want to keep your MLS broad so as to be more attractive to more employers where you are.
A second master's, IMO, is something to pursue to fulfill the needs of your heart. It MIGHT prove really useful or it might not. Depending on where you are applying, it might make you look overqualified. In academia, of course, it's not a liability.
