We can, and should, debate the merits, shortcomings, and implications of faculty status for librarians; but for those of us in tenure-track positions, that conversation – as interesting as it may be – doesn’t offer much other than possible vindication of personal views and potential camaraderie. Whether we believe in it or not, we need to follow the rules and requirements of the reappointment, promotion, and tenure processes at our respective institutions in order to
keep our jobs.
