I had two great interviews last week. One of the interviewers actually answered my thank you note! Please God can I work for her?! I'm terrified that I'll be offered bot at different times and then what will I do? What will I do if NEITHER is offered? O the agony

Whenever you are offered a job, an organization will sometimes tell you how long you have to decide but often you ask for X days to make a decision. But if you drag out things too long on one offer to wait for another, you may lose out on both. You cannot ever count on getting an offer and some organizations tend to be very impatient (especially if they are desperate to fill it now).

I agree that you can stall for X number of days. Ask if you can have 3 days, or up to five--after that you are seriously pushing your luck and their patience! You can use that time to decide if you really want that job, call the other place(s) and ask if they have made a decision, and go on from there. Never assume that you will get the other job---and you did apply for both because you were interested enough in them to want to do that job at the place.
